Budget 2009 committed $1.5 million over two years in support of the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) so that it may undertake the development of a website to showcase the foreign credential recognition initiatives under way across Canada.

The objective of this website is to provide a one-stop information site for foreign credentials referral (FCR) initiatives. This will give Canadian organizations the opportunity to leverage and capitalize on promising practices across Canada to advance their own FCR needs.

• As a first step in developing this initiative, the FCRO organized a workshop with key stakeholders on June 23, 2009.
• The FCRO also held a series of information sessions across Canada in November 2009.
• Further to the information sessions held across Canada in November 2009, the FCRO conducted a series of focus testing sessions across Canada in April 2010.
